UMW Purpose

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. 
The Vision  
Turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. 
Scope of Program  
Programs and activities are designed to provide opportunities to grow spiritually, equip women to be leaders, provide transformative educational experience, and work for justice through service and advocacy.

UMW Small Groups and Other Opportunities for Women

The following groups for women meet on a regular basis and are always open to new members:

  • Dahlia Circle - first Monday of each month except July, 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in members' homes
  • Girasol Circle (for Spanish-speaking women) and Ruth Circle (for daughters of Spanish-speaking women) - second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, 6 p.m. in Room 10.
  • UMW Book Club - fourth Monday of each month except July, August and December, 7 p.m. in members' homes.
  • Spirituality Group - Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Wesley Room
  • Crafters, Knitters, and Talkers - Wednesdays, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in the Bride's Room
  • Mom's Group Book/Bible Study - Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in the Wesley Room
  • Faith Journey Book/Bible Study - Thursdays, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Wesley Room

Lighthouse Visitation Team

Lighthouse Visitation Team visits the Lighthouse Women and Children's Emergency Shelter in Oxnard on the fourth Tuesday of each month.  We take dessert to the residents, present a Bible Study, and lead them in a time of singing and prayer.      We leave Thousand Oaks at 6:00 p.m. and return by 8:30 p.m.  For more information contact Tracy Diestel at diestel50@gmail.com.
